Adam Sirota, a seventh grader at the Roslyn Middle School, ran the New York City Half Marathon on Sunday, March 18. This was Adam’s second year participating in the 13.1-mile race. Like last year, Adam was once again, the youngest runner in this prestigious race.
Adam ran for Team Fox. He chose to run for them because he hopes to make a difference for those that live with Parkinson’s Disease. Adam raised close to $1,500 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Adam was in intensive training for about 12 weeks, while simultaneously preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. His Bar Mitzvah was a week prior to the race.
There were 15,331 runners at this year’s NYC Half Marathon. Adam ranked in the top 17 percent.
Adam shaved 15 minutes off his finish time from last year. His finish time this year was 1:42:04.
