This year, the Roslyn High School football team is having a banner season. But the Marching Bulldogs band is also in fine form, recently finishing first in their group at the US Bands Competition hosted by Manhasset High School.
The theme of this year’s show was the “Sound of Music” and was comprised of scores from that legendary musical production. The band performed with its usual high energy, one that was complimented by its dancers and color guard. The band’s components made for a spectacular performance as the Marching Bulldogs received their highest score of the year while on the way to the first place score.
Prior to the Manhasset performance, the band also marched up Fifth Avenue during the always-popular Columbus Day Parade.
On October 20, the band competed in The Empire Cup State Championship, held at Mitchel Field in Uniondale. They will finish the season with the US Bands National Championships, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.
