Letter: Asset to School Board

It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Kim Hunter for the Roslyn School District School Board. I have known Kim for almost three years as she cares for my son in her Family Day Care. Kim is an impressive combination of a woman with solid family values, an exceptional educator, and a strong community advocate. I do not live in Roslyn, but if I did, Kim Hunter is exactly who I would want representing the educational needs of our children, families and teachers.

My husband and I met Kim prior to my son’s birth. At this meeting in her home, we were immediately impressed with her philosophy of child care and education. I knew from our first conversation that I wanted my child in this environment. She has provided a stimulating, creative, and loving place for children to develop their sense of identity and positive connections with others. As a mother, I have had numerous discussions with Kim regarding aspects of child development and education. She displays exemplary knowledge in this area and shares her knowledge and opinions in an open, relaxed manner showing deep respect and caring for my own questions and concerns.  It is easy to see how these ideals would translate into developing enriching programs and services for the Roslyn community at large.

Personally, Kim is a warm, intelligent, creative, caring woman for whom I have the deepest regard and admiration, which must be evident by now as I have entrusted her with the care of one of my children. As a clinical psychologist in an active clinical training program at NS-LIJ Health System, I believe I am equipped to speak to her strengths as an educator, a community leader and as a fine human being. I truly believe Kim Hunter will be an asset to the Roslyn School Board.
