Friday, 01 June 2012 00:00Every week, The Roslyn News reports the progress, awards, and achievements of numerous students in the area. Consider the achievements of two Roslyn High School students as reported in this week’s issue, at a recent science and engineering fair, one that attracted students from all over the world. Behind those achievements are parents, the students’ own initiatives, but also their teachers. In recent weeks, we have also reported on Dr. Allyson Weseley for receiving a Teacher of the Year Award from the Long Island Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and Sara Lehn for attending a National Endowment for the Humanities Shakespeare seminar. Congratulations to both for their achievements and to other teachers in the Roslyn district who will undoubtedly receive similar honors in the future. The famed American author Henry Adams once described a great teacher as someone who touches eternity. That sounds dramatic, but many young people in Roslyn are benefiting from instruction that appears to be achieving that priceless gift.
