It is a truism that good things just don’t happen on their own; they’re made to happen.
Good things are happening in our community day in and day out and it’s not by mere coincidence. It’s because of the hard work and dedication of our board members, including Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman and Trustee Clara Pomerantz. They are running for re-election and we hope you will join us in supporting them.
Despite the contrast to other communities, our Village is thriving. We are even adding services, while at the same time keeping tax increases to a minimum. Our events are better than ever, our programs expanding, and our services provided at the highest levels. Whether through creative means such as refinancing our bonds from the Park or standing up, together with the School Board, against tax abatements for commercial property owners which erodes residential taxes, Manny and Clara have been outstanding members of the Board.
Both Manny and Clara have valuable experience and results. Manny established, and now oversees, our Security Department in the Village. In this role, he gained great efficiencies through re-organization. Most recently, Manny has been handling emergency preparedness and obtained a commitment for a $50,000 grant from New York State for a generator for use at Village Hall when our lights are out.
Clara has been a champion of the environment. She created Green Day to display the newest technology to protect the environment and voted for an extra day of recycling pick-ups which we now have each week. She also brought smiles to our children’s faces when she created and ran Candyland in the Woods. She will soon begin a new program, called “Neighbors for Neighbors,” which will offer to help residents when a need or emergency arises.
Both candidates not only love what they do, but are excited to do it. They have no further ambitions in government but solely enjoy serving our community as Trustees. They have dedicated their lives to community service, get great satisfaction from seeing their ideas come to fruition, embrace change and welcome input. Together, through their leadership, Manny and Clara have worked to expand the events and activities of the Kids in the Park Committee and the Senior Activities Committee, which are now first rate programs.
Because their work has been exemplary; because their contributions have been great; because Manny and Clara have the experience needed to serve; and because they have a record of proven results; we hope you will join us in supporting them on Election Day, March 20.
