In 2011 the East Hills community experienced two severe storms — each of which resulted in rather lengthy power outages for many of our residents. As a result, many of us, both young families and older folks alike, found ourselves in very difficult circumstances without electricity — no hot water to wash, no cooling, no refrigeration and no reliable cooking sources. In other words, our village experienced an almost inconceivable, unlivable and unacceptable condition in these modern times.
There was one clear future need and option — the installation of a generator in our village so that residents could avail themselves of needed relief. This request was presented to the mayor and the trustees, who agreed this was a worthy undertaking.
Under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman, a grant has been pursued, village funding has been approved and now, the project is moving into the detailed planning stages. We would like to thank Manny Zuckerman for his support and effort to see to it that should we face a similar situation in the future that the East Hills Village Hall and auditorium will be equipped with generators to provide heat and/or air conditioning, hot water and, if necessary, a place to find some comfort and relief. To ensure that the village keeps focused on our needs, vote for Manny Zuckerman for trustee.
We would also like to thank Clara Pomerantz for the great job she has been doing for the children in our community. Whether you are a parent or grandparent, it is a joy to see the enthusiasm of the children for the activities that are planned and provided by the village under the guidance of Clara Pomerantz. A vote for Clara Pomerantz for trustee will ensure the continuation of these exciting programs.
We truly appreciate the dedication of these two hard-working trustees and urge you to come out and vote for Manny and Clara on March 20.
