The Chamber-sponsored summer concert series has drawn to a close with an outstanding performance by Phil Costa’s Something Special Big Band, an 18-piece band that played favorites from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and all the favorite tunes from yesteryear. They played for two hours in front of a very appreciative crowd.
The Town of North Hempstead Supervisor, Jon Kaiman, Receiver of Taxes, Charles Berman, and Legislator Wayne Wink Jr., all addressed the audience before the concert.
There’s a Holiday concert planned for Dec. 1. Stay tuned for more details.
Just a reminder to all our new and prospective members that the Roslyn Chamber of Commerce’s membership committee will be reinstating our New Member Breakfasts on the first Tuesday of the month, beginning with September. The New Member Breakfasts are held to introduce new chamber members to some of the membership committee and board of directors. If you are a new chamber member or have never attended our New Member Breakfast, you will be welcomed. Learn a little more about the workings of the chamber, the committees and when you attend the next full chamber meeting, there will be a few familiar faces.
The September New Member Breakfast will be held on the first Wednesday due to the Labor Day holiday that week. Currently scheduled dates are Wednesday, September 7; Tuesday, October 4; Tuesday, November 1.
All New Member Breakfast meetings are held at Bagel Boss located at 400 Willis Ave. in Roslyn Heights. The chamber would like to thank Bagel Boss for their generosity in hosting the New Member Breakfasts and for their contribution of our delicious breakfast. Please consider using Bagel Boss for your dining and catering needs and let them know you are a Chamber member.
• The next general meeting will be held on September 12 at 388 American Restaurant (388 Willis Ave., Roslyn Heights). Check the Chamber website for more information. Admission as always is free. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, and there will be a cash bar.
• On September 24 the chamber will sponsor a Health Fair. Please see our website as the chamber will join with the Chambers of Commerce of Great Neck, Port Washington, Manhasset, and Glen Cove in a multi-chamber sponsored Networking event at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn Heights. On Monday, October 24, there will be the highly anticipated second annual Taste of Roslyn. Stay tuned for the announcement of ticket sales. You will not want to get shut out. Last year over 250 people were turned away because we sold out a week early. This year’s event will be held at The Swan Club.
