A quiet Friday afternoon in Roslyn Heights was shattered by a murder/suicide on Elm Street, one that claimed the lives of three people of the same family, including a young girl.
According to Homicide Squad detectives, the shooting occurred on Friday, Aug. 7 at 12:25 p.m. in Roslyn Heights.
Detectives added that on that date, officers responded to a 911 call for shots fired at the Elm Street residence in Roslyn Heights.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple gunshot victims at the scene. According to police, the estranged husband, Mohamed Shojaeifard, 49, of Edward St., Roslyn Heights, apparently shot his mother in–law, Batool Biraman, 66, of Greenvale, his daughter, Mandana Shojaeifard, and his ex-wife, Haleh Mohseni, 40, both of whom lived at the Elm Street residence.
The subject then turned the shotgun on himself, police stated. The mother-in-law and subject were found deceased at the scene. The daughter was transported to Winthrop Hospital by police ambulance where she later died. The wife was transported by police ambulance to an area hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition.
