Friday Morning Mussar Study 

Come to Friday Morning Mussar Study with Rabbi Andrew Gordon at 11 a.m. Mussar is a medieval and chasidic study that focuses on Tikkun Middot, the refining of our soul’s traits.  Together, we will use the Torah, ancient Mussar texts, and the modern commentary of Alan Morinis to focus on our own character development. Israeli Independence Service

Mini Minyan

Join Temple Beth Sholom at 10:30 a.m. for Mini Minyan, for children ages 3-7, meets on Shabbat mornings. People will gather in the Youth Lounge for an energetic, child-centered Shabbat morning service. Temple Beth Sholom is located at 401 Roslyn Rd. Call: 621-2288.

Mishpacha Minyan

The Mishpacha Minyan at 10:45 a.m. is for children ages 8 and up (and their parents, siblings, grandparents, the whole family is invited!) meets during the school year in the Sandler Chapel. Led by Rabbi Jennifer Schlosberg, families are invited to lead different parts of the service, have an aliyah, or participate in a Torah skit or text study. Spring Fling

A spring fling will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, corner of Willis Avenue and Cornell Street, Williston Park, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Attic treasures (something for everyone), bakery (delectable delights for all), and a kitchen cafe serving a moderately priced light lunch, will be the highlights of this mission event hosted by the Ladies’ Aid. Call 742-5858.

A Musical Journey Through Israel 

On Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., Temple Judea is proud to welcome Professor Ira Epstein, who with the use of music, maps, pictures and audio/video files will take the audience members on a tour of Israel, covering the major regions.  All song lyrics have simple, catchy refrains that are easy to learn and sing.  Audience participation is encouraged. The program, sponsored by the Greatest Generation of Temple Judea of Manhasset, 333 Searingtown Rd. is $10 per person and more than a nosh will be served.  This event is open to all ages.  Please R.S.V.P. to the temple office at 621-8049.

President Clinton Lecture

Temple Sinai will welcome President Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States and Founder of the William J. CarFit Program For Seniors 

On Friday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Abilities, Inc. at The Viscardi Center is hosting a CarFit educational program at its campus at 201 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson. CarFit is a national educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their vehicles “fit” them. During the CarFit evaluation, trained technicians thoroughly check each individual’s safety belt position, distance from the airbag as well as the seat and mirror positions to maximize the driver’s comfort and safety. An occupational therapy practitioner conducts the adapted driver evaluations and a specialist in adaptive driving provides lessons. The Barbershop Harmony Society’s Nassau Mid-Island Chapter takes center stage at Carle Place High School (168 Cherry Lane) to offer “Barbershop – Broadway & Beyond,” on Saturday evening, April 20 at 8:07 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door.
