Summer Sounds

In celebration of the nation’s July 4 holiday, Nassau County Museum of Art has joined with New York Performing Arts Society to present Summer Sounds, a delightful late afternoon concert of spirited American music on the lawns of the museum, One Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor. The 60-member South Shore Symphony performs under the baton of guest Conductor Matthew Oberstein, principal conductor and director of the Artemis Chamber Ensemble and assistant conductor of Regina Opera. The program features the music of Leroy Anderson and John Phillip Sousa along with Broadway favorites. 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. Children aged 5 or under are admitted free. Rev Up Your Hearing Aids

Advanced Hearing Center, 1163 Willis Ave., Albertson, is launching a series of free hearing aid optimization monthly workshops for those with hearing aids and their companions. Prime Time Butcher in Roslyn Heights and Woodbury is raising funds for the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. Through Independence Day, July 4, two percent of their sales will be donated to the breast cancer program. •Family Promise of NC. Are you concerned about helping homeless families in our local communities? You are invited to meetings for Family Promise of Nassau County, Inc., the third Monday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. at the New Hyde Park Baptist Church, 635 New Hyde Park Rd., NHP (352-9672 ).
