Opinion

I never quite understood how important the composition of a school board of education was until this year. The Roslyn Board of Education makes decisions, which have an immediate and long standing impact upon the education and welfare of my children. Their decisions have a greater effect on my life than those decisions made in Albany or Washington. As a parent, my existence centers around providing and protecting my children from harm yet I am often both befuddled and frustrated as I am unable to protect my children from some of the short sighted decisions made by our Board of Education. In this highly competitive world that my children are entering, I demand that they are given the best education possible. Therefore, I have realized that the members of our Roslyn Board of Education must be people of integrity with high intellect and exemplary communication skills. They must possess a broad understanding of the educational needs of our children and at the same time appreciate the present economic environment of our local educational system. I believe that Adam Haber is such a person.

Adam Haber is a unique individual. He is extremely accomplished yet humble, highly intelligent yet modest, and he possesses an enviable knack for finance yet remains unassuming. I also believe that it is essential for board members to have children currently enrolled in the school system as they are more likely to understand, protect and fight for the needs of our student body. Adam Haber is the proud parent of two children in the Roslyn school district. He is a civic leader who has earned the respect of adults and children alike. As a coach in the Roslyn Little League and Roslyn Basketball, I have observed Adam's leadership qualities as well as the respect and admiration bestowed upon him by our children.

Adam Haber has the right balance of temperament, intelligence, foresight, civic responsibility and duty combined with the fiscal sense to develop, implement and steward programs, which will improve the education given to our most precious possessions, our legacy, our children. I trust Adam Haber with my children's educational future and I urge you to support him in the upcoming election to the Roslyn Board of Education.
