Out of literally thousands of young women from all across the nation, Roslyn resident Sana Idnani was named one of the 15 finalists in the ELLEgirl Model Search.
The top models came from all regions of the U.S., representing, in addition to New York, such states as Maine, New Jersey, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Illinois, Idaho, Washington and Colorado.
"The model search is not all about looks," said Mindy DiCrosta of Cynamin & Olive Productions, adding that the finalists have been subjected to oral interviews, and that personality counted in the search also. For the final vote, viewers were given the opportunity to view the biography of each of the finalists, along with several photos.
Ms. DiCrosta said a major purpose of the contest was to help young women "get into modeling without getting hurt financially."
More specifically, the model search has been a nationwide open call for any girl interested in pursuing a career in the modeling industry, launched in conjunction with the launch of what is termed as a "revolutionary" product, "Modeling the No-Nonsense Approach." It is advertised as a one-stop modeling kit that gives the aspiring model a step-by-step path with everything she needs to know to enter the industry affordably and effectively for under $100.
In her bio, Ms. Idnani said she loves modeling and being in front of the camera.
"Fashion is a big part of my life and I always try to keep up with the new trends," she added. "I cherish every moment I get to spend with my friends and family. I adore animals and I am part of several different animal rights organizations and it is very important to me that animals have a voice. I always had a passion for being an actress and I just recently began taking acting classes; and last but not least I always set high goals for myself and love being challenged."
Ms. Idnani listed her hobbies as spending time with her friends and family; modeling; participating in pageants; acting; running; shopping and setting new trends; dancing; singing; spending time at the animal shelter and giving love and affection to the animals; donating to different charities; traveling; reading and watching movies. She also enjoys writing poetry and singing.
"My family always comes first and I would do anything for them and the same goes for my closest friends," Ms. Idnani added. "I am very thankful for the life I have been given and I cherish every moment of it. Lastly, I am a very honest person and believe that honesty is the key ingredient to being a good person. I am not perfect and I have told a few lies in my life but within minutes the truth came out."
Ms. Idnani is involved in several charitable organizations, including People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Humane Society of the United States, and World Society to the Protection of Animals.
"I am also part of Toys of Hope, Do Something, and Komen Breast Cancer Foundation," she said. "In addition, I frequently work in the Senior Citizen homes and always participate in food drives."
Speaking of career and life goals, Ms. Idnani said: "My main goal right now is to be a model and be able to do photo shoots and be in magazines. I always admired the girls in my favorite magazines and wished that I would one day be one of them. Also, in the future I would love to get more involved in the acting industry. I would love to be the lead role in a film and if I work hard toward it and put my heart into it, I know one day it will happen."
The model search winner will received numerous prizes designed to launch her career, including: a photo spread on ElleGirl.com with an actor from CBS' Guiding Light, a two-year modeling contract with Ikon N.Y. Model Management, a walk-on role on the Emmy award-winning Guiding Light on CBS, on-stage assignments with Clairol, and the opportunity to be considered for a nationwide print campaign, a photo shoot with world-renowned photographer Roberto Ligresti, full makeover, feature and cover try with Modern Salon magazine, and a one-year supply of Sobe Life Water.
