Tomorrow evening, the Roslyn Bulldogs hope to make more basketball history.

On Friday, March 13, the Bulldogs will travel to SUNY-Farmingdale to take on East Hampton for the Class ABC-I Long Island title. Tip off time is 5:00 p.m.

East Hampton made it to the title game by defeating Greenport last Friday night, 68-44. The winner of the Roslyn-East Hampton showdown will then advance to play in Glen Falls, NY, where they will compete for the New York State crown.

The road to Farmingdale has been a dramatic one for the Bulldogs who went into the Nassau County tournament as the number three seed, but ended up winning the school's first ever Class ABC-I Nassau County title.

The Bulldogs advanced to the Nassau County championship game by defeating Westbury in a thrilling overtime road win, 71-64. Leading 45-40 as play went into the final quarter, the Bulldogs held off a furious Westbury rally to send the game into overtime, where Roslyn prevailed by a seven-point margin.

George Beamon was top scorer with 31 points. Three other Bulldogs scored in double figures: Jordan Richman (15), Jake Ansel (13), and Dan Lip (10.) Richman also had a career-high 15 rebounds and five blocked shots, while Lip chipped in with five assists.

In the title game, the Bulldogs rallied from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat top seeded South Side, 69-61.

Trailing 53-51, Roslyn outscored South Side by 10 points in the final frame to take the convincing win. George Beamon led the way with 33 points. He was assisted by Dan Lip who knocked down 16 points, and Jordan Richman who had 12 points. Nearly all of Lip's scoring came from the three-point line. Playing under a pressure packed situation, Lip drilled home five three-pointers. Beamon had three three-pointers, along with eight field goals and eight free throws.

As the Bulldogs progressed through the playoffs, toppling teams with better records, Head Coach Jeff Risener praised the team's "togetherness, spirit, and unity." Risener also singled out team star George Beamon's work ethic for setting a good example for the rest of the squad. Logo
