All three victories came by double-digit margins, with Roslyn prevailing over Malverne 76-63, over Floral Park, 69-59, and defeating Jericho, 67-55.
In the win over Malverne, the Bulldogs overcame a 20-15 first quarter deficit on the way to victory. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs outscored Malverne 18-13 to tie the game at halftime. In the third quarter, Roslyn's momentum continued, as they took a 53-48 lead going into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, Roslyn outscored Malverne 23-15 to take a comfortable 76-63 win.
In the win over Floral Park, the Bulldogs led all the way. Roslyn jumped out to a 16-8 first quarter advantage. Floral Park bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring Roslyn 23-18. But the Bulldogs came back with a strong third quarter. Roslyn took a 53-42 lead into the final frame, while on route to the 69-59 win.
Finally, in the win over Jericho, Roslyn took a 17-11 lead, one they never relinquished. Beamon was assisted by Dan Lip who had 10 points and two rebounds and Jordan Richman who chipped in with nine points and 14 rebounds.
After the three wins, Roslyn now sports a 4-2 record in Conference ABC-I play. Upcoming games are against South Side (Jan. 23), Westbury (Jan. 30), Malverne (Feb. 4), an away game at Floral Park (Feb. 6), and another away game at Jericho on Feb. 9.
Beamon's latest scoring spree came on the heels of his 56-point outburst in the Jan. 8 win over Calhoun. In that game, which Roslyn won 89-74, Beamon's point total set a new school record. Beamon currently leads all Long Island hoopsters in scoring, averaging over 35 points per game. He also is averaging six rebounds per game.
For his efforts, Beamon was recently named a Player of The Week by Newsday. Jason Silverstein, another Roslyn star, is averaging seven assists per game, which puts him in second place among Long Island players.
