The Gene V. Tedone Foundation held its first annual golf outing recently at the Lido Golf Club in Lido Beach followed by a dinner at Minnesota's Grill in Long Beach.
More than 120 family members, friends and neighbors took part in the event in honor of Gene Tedone, a long-time resident of Roslyn Heights and strong advocate of higher education, who passed away in April from complications following cardiac surgery. The Foundation, formed to perpetuate Tedone's memory, will work with New Hyde Park's OSIA Cellini Lodge and participate in their annual scholarship awards program to benefit local college and graduate students.
At the dinner, Robert J. Valli of New Hyde Park, who with his wife Barbara, were dear friends of Tedone and his wife Anna and daughters, Jodi, Kara and Lori, for more than 52 years, was presented with the Foundation's first Humanitarian Award for "commitment to family, friends and community."
