The Willets Road Sunday Morning Softball Team has made it to the big time and will be playing softball at Shea Stadium on Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.

Dennis Arfa has been playing with the group for more than 20 years. Dennis is the president of Artists Group International, a New York-based talent booking agency. He was recently at Shea Stadium to finalize the arrangements for Billy Joel's recent blockbuster "Last Play at Shea" and saw men playing softball in the outfield. When told the field was sometimes available to "corporate sponsors," Dennis arranged one more event at Shea.

The teams will be comprised of 40 men (all near or beyond the age of 50) and some of their children, who have been playing together at the Willis Road School in Roslyn for more than 20 years.

This year, the team celebrated its 40th anniversary of annual March trips to Longboat Key, Sarasota, FL to play softball. The group has also traveled cross country to the Field of Dreams in Palm Springs, CA to play ball.
