Runners from Roslyn are invited to join in the fun at the "Sands Point Preserve Sprint for the Feinstein Institute" on Saturday morning, Aug. 9. This 5-Kilometer running race offers a unique combination of paved paths and runner-friendly trails through the woodlands and Long Island Sound vistas of Nassau County's Sands Point Preserve, at the north end of the Port Washington Peninsula.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers overall, plus three deep in every 5-year age group through 85 and over, as well as to the top three Male and Female Clydesdales in each of two weight divisions. Special commemorative summer shirts will go to every entrant. Timing and results will be provided by TriandDult Multisport using the AMB Computerized Chip Timing System.
The entire net proceeds of this year's Sprint will be dedicated to the Feinstein Institute of North Shore-LIJ Health System and its chronic Lymphatic Lymphoma research and treatment program. The Greater Long Island Running Club's Abe Bernstein, who is in remission from Lymphoma, with serve as the sponsor and director of the event.
Entry fees are $18 for those who register in advance and $20 on the day of the race.There is a 50 percent discount for pre-registered runners and walkers under the age of 16.
