Brittany Katz is a talented, brilliant thinker whose presence has permeated every facet of Roslyn High School. She has capitalized on her vast skills and abilities creating an exemplary record of leadership and character. Brittany is very involved in our research program is which she strives for nothing but excellence. Her interest is genetics, a program in which she will pursue at Brown University next year. Brittany is also passionate about art. Her previous AP art teacher says that Brittany has a risk-taking mentality that added sparks to her already creative endeavors. She also stated that Brittany has also been a "main stay" in the Art Club. A member since her freshman year, the club has amended its constitution, and tripled its fundraising. She was also instrumental in re-establishing a chapter of the National Art Honor Society into which she was inducted last year.
Brittany has given a new meaning to the term Renaissance woman. She is artistic, intellectual, and athletic. She is an outstanding example of excellence in many arenas and has won the heart of faculty and students alike. She has been selected as one of our two students who were accepted into the 8-year Brown University Medical Program.
Jennifer Batel, an extraordinary young lady, has earned a perfect score in each course that she has taken during her four years at Roslyn High School. The significance of this achievement is underscored by the fact that she has taken the most rigorous course load possible. All who know her never cease to be impressed with her tremendous intellectual ability as well as her exceptional character.
Jennifer's achievements go way beyond academics. As a columnist for the school newspaper, as a member of the speech team or as color guard captain of the marching band, her contributions have always been exemplary. Her passion for math and science is reflected in the awards that she has received from the Long Island Science Educators Leadership Association as well as the gold medals that she has been awarded at the Long Island Mathematics Fair. Jennifer's intellect, commitment and character are indeed outstanding and she will undoubtedly continue to achieve great success as she enters Harvard University in the fall.
Quite possibly one of the most impressive students and young people that Roslyn High School has ever produced has to be Austin Bernhardt. He has excelled in the classroom and has been a teacher's dream. Anyone who knows Austin wonders when he has time to accomplish his extracurricular endeavors including Editor-in-chief of the School Newspaper, Captain of Mock Trial, President of Model Congress and Member of the National Honor Society and Peer Leaders. A consummate learner, Austin has made the most of his experience as a student and has helped a lot of his peers along the way with their academic needs. Austin is an amazing community minded young person and one who will no doubt bring this same spirit to Yale University in the fall where he plans on studying English Literature.
One of Austin's greatest passions has to be filmmaking, production and theory. He has had the great opportunity to study at the New York Film Academy in London, England and New York City as well as Columbia University. Austin has an impressive list of academic awards including, but not limited to AP Scholar with Honors and National Merit Semifinalist.
