On Sunday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m., the Town of North Hempstead will dedicate a monument to the members of Roslyn's two fire companies: The Roslyn Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. 1 and the Roslyn Highland Engine and Hose Hook and Ladder Co.

The dedication ceremony and unveiling of the granite monument recognizing the volunteers' services and sacrifices to the greater Roslyn community will be held on the above date at Gerry Park on Main Street & Paper Mill Road in Roslyn.

Dignitaries and elected officials scheduled to attend the ceremony includes Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Town Council members Thomas Dwyer and Maria-Christina Poons as well as State Senator Craig Johnson, Assemblywoman Michelle Schimmel, and Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink.

The day will be particularly poignant one for the two fire companies as volunteers that paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty-such as Michael Haub and siblings Thomas and Peter Langone, who perished in the Sept. 11 attacks-are remembered.
