A Farmer's Market has opened in Roslyn.
Nassau County officials recently announced that Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn Estates will be the new home for a Farmer's Market that is currently in operation and remain so until Nov. 26.
Every day, the market will be open at 7:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m.
The Christopher Morley market is one of the two such markets that the county has opened for business. The other market is at 101 County Seat Drive, Garden City. It will remain open at those same hours until Nov. 25.
Both markets will offer fresh produce - vegetables fruits, juices, honey, jams, jellies pickles, pies, and breads.
The Nassau County Attorney's office and the County's Department of Senior Citizen Affairs worked with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Farmer's Market Federation of New York and the Long Island Grower's Market to create both markets.
"Last year's farmer's market was a huge success and I'm excited that Nassau County will now host two Farmer's Markets," said County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi. "Farmer's Market customers will enjoy fresh food, straight from the farm, without having to travel a great distance."
Approximately 8-12 vendors are expected to take part in the weekly markets and offer fresh foods. To encourage seniors to take advantage of this healthy option, the County's Department of Senior Citizen Affairs will distribute vouchers provided through a State program designed to help qualifying seniors make purchases at the market.
