On Wednesday, May 14, Ali Bernstein makes another triumphant return to her hometown to star in her one-woman comedy show, "Big Bad & Pink" to be performed at the Bryant Library. The show begins on that date at 7:30 p.m.

Ms. Bernstein has written this show, one compromising of unrelated characters that have a story to be told by a little girl in pink. Born and raised in Roslyn, Ali has been making people laugh since the day she was a child. Growing up in a house with mom, dad, and two older brothers, she never lacked an audience. By the time she was 5 years old, she told her parents that she wanted to be a comedian, and started doing some impressions of Michael Jackson and Rodney Dangerfield and songs about her idea of a "business meeting."

She went on to play various character roles throughout her childhood such as Mae Peterson in Bye, Bye, Birdie and Rizzo in Grease, while continuing to write character monologues for herself.

At 15 years old, she got the chance of a lifetime. After being delayed in a Florida airport for six hours, the airline decided to host a talent contest in the terminal. With a little push from her best friend, Ali got up and did her material. She won the contest, was rewarded with a free roundtrip ticket and was hooked. That year, she began doing stand-up at many New York clubs including Caroline's on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, and The Impov.

After four productive years at the University of Maryland, Ali is back in action in New York, and being funny wherever she performs. In addition to performing her show, she also gigs regularly with a Manhattan-based improv group called "The Hebrew School Dropouts."

Ali was also part of the special Friends of Bryant Library event with Wendy Liebman several years back that raised money for a new Circulation Desk. She is excited to be performing in her hometown, and is thankful to her fabulous family and friends for all their support.

The Bryant Library show is only one of several that Ali is performing throughout the New York City area this spring. In late April, she brought her show to the Broadway Comedy Club in Manhattan and on Tuesday, May 6 and 13 and on Monday, May 19, Ms. Bernstein will be at the Magnet Theatre for shows all beginning at 9:30 p.m. The Magnet Theatre is located at 254 W. 29th St.
