Jourdan Urbach, a Roslyn High School junior, has recently received several honors and awards to add to his list of accomplishments. Jourdan will be having his poem For You, Grandma, published in Goose River Anthology 2008. According to Roslyn High School English Independent Study advisor, Mr. Daniel Jamieson, this is the third year Jourdan's work has been published by Goose River.

Jourdan won the National Society of High School Scholars Leadership Award and will be presented with the $1,000 prize in the United States Senate at the end of May. Nominated by Mr. Jamieson, Jourdan was chosen from 700 nominees.

He was also chosen to receive the American Television International Young Heroes Award at a Gala event on June 6 in Los Angeles which will benefit Feed the Children. During the event, which will be aired on Fox nationally, Jourdan will perform a musical piece and give a brief speech. American Television International will also show a segment of a documentary they have filmed about Jourdan's work.
