Billy Finegan, an instructor at World Champion Tokey Hill Karate in Roslyn took the Gold Medal at the Arnold Sports Festival held Feb. 29 - March 2. The Arnold, billed as the largest fitness celebration in the world, attracts 17,000 athletes from around the country who compete in 12 different Olympic events. This year, over 150,000 spectators turned out for the events including many celebrities to the world of boxing.
Held in Columbus, OH, the site of Arnold Schwarzenegger's first body building appearance in the United States, the inimitable Arnold Sports Festival has grown from a one-day body building competition in 1989 to a world-class event. Martial Arts competitions were added in 1996 and are now overseen by Tokey Hill, the first American to win the Karate World Championships.
As a former Golden Gloves Champion and member of the U.S. National Karate Team, Finegan is a well-known athlete. As a member of Team Tokey Hill, he provides martial arts instruction and coaching in a 3,000-square foot, state-of-the-art, martial arts center with full size boxing ring located at 55 Lumber Road, Roslyn.
