In a game played at Carnessecca Hall on the St. John's University campus, the Long Island Lightning Division I Island Garden Team Cotumaccio/Tucker fourth grade boys defeated St. Robert's fifth grade CYO team 28-18.
The game was played preceding the St. John's-DePaul game on Jan. 12. The team is made up of Roslyn area youth.
Center Evan Chait led the team with 10 points kissing it off the glass; Guard Sean Tucker dominated with his awesome outside shots as well as his inner game; point guard Dominic Cotumaccio opened up the court with spectacular passing and deadly outside shooting; forward Jack Kindler played the "swing man" as he set picks, rebounds and is a great shooter; Aaron Winston redefined "boxing out" shutting down the "notorious" St. Robert's offense; Jordan Hurwitz illustrated awesome athletics
by driving it to the hole, rebounding and relentless defense; Guy Vitacco is a scrappy guard with relentless defense and a great outside shot; and Kyle Schneider is a guard with quick ball-handling skills.
Coach Cotumaccio said, "It was a magical performance by a cohesive group of boys who play as a team. I am very proud of these boys. They have heart."
