Many of the world's great and emerging glass artists have worked at UrbanGlass, the only open-access glass-working facility in New York.
Roslyn Adult Continuing Education is offering a trip that includes a tour of the facility in downtown Brooklyn, where you can observe demonstrations of glass blowing and other techniques, and learn how the most beautiful and original art glass is created. Then you will participate in a hands-on Sandblasting Workshop where you will work on a piece of glass that you can take with you.
After the tour, you may lunch on your own at Junior's (world-famous for its cheesecake), which is just a block away, or in any other of the local eateries. The UrbanGlass trip is Tuesday, March 25 and the cost for residents is $65, which includes transportation, the guided tour and sandblasting workshop. The luxury bus leaves Christopher Morley Park at 8:45 a.m. and returns approximately 3:30 p.m.
