Sterling Glen of Roslyn invites area seniors to enjoy an array of activities throughout the month of March designed to educate, engage and entertain. The following events will be held at Sterling Glen, located at 100 Landing Road, just off Northern Boulevard.
• Sunday, March 2 - The internationally acclaimed piano/violin duo of Kasha and Anna Karkowska, known for telling fantastic stories through music, will perform from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 5 and 19 - The Joy of Shakespeare discussion group, led by moderator Ed Katz, will provide an overview about the playwright and how his works still apply to modern culture. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. both days.
• Sunday, March 9 - Instructors from the Aesthetic Realism Foundation will present "Every Person Can Tell You Something About Yourself," an educational seminar based on the teachings of American poet, critic, and philosopher Eli Siegel. The hour-long program begins at 1:30 p.m. and will be led by Anne Fielding and Jeffrey Carduner.
• Wednesday, March 12 - "Op Art" is the topic of an art history seminar from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. hosted by a docent from the Nassau County Museum of Art.
• Sunday, March 16 - Celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick's Day with a concert of traditional Irish music performed by Fiddler's Green from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
• Sunday, March 23 - Enjoy a one-hour performance of light classical music and operatic selections performed by the Allegro Singers, who are under the musical direction of Inna Leytush, at 3 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 25 - The American Association of University Women will present a lecture on "Women in Renaissance Art" at 1:30 p.m.
• Sunday, March 30 - John Hughes will entertain on keyboard and vocals from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Hughes has performed at many of the top casinos in Atlantic City and currently appears with the Bob Hardwick Sound, a popular society orchestra, as well as solo appearances in many major hotels in New York City.
• Sunday, March 30 - Sterling Glen and Sid Jacobson JCC will co-host a "Senior Singles Mixer" for senior singles (ages 60 +) at 3 p.m. Admission fee for the mixer is $5 for JCC members and JCC Senior Passport holders; $10 for non-members. Hors d'oeuvres and champagne punch will be served. Reservations are required; call Donna Bernstein at 484-1545, ext. 134.
