The Wheatley School has been recognized by the Nassau County Public High School Athletic Association for its display of exemplary sportsmanship during the 2006-2007 school year.
The 2006-2007 Award is the third time Wheatley has been recognized in this program. At the completion of each sports season, the Officials' Association for each varsity sport evaluates and ranks each participating school for sportsmanship.
The rankings are compiled for all sports to determine the athletic programs in Nassau County which exhibit the qualities of good sportsmanship on a consistent basis. The Wheatley School has been recognized for a second consecutive year as a "Top Ten" finisher.
The Nassau County Sportsmanship Award is an annual program, sponsored by Cablevision Local Programming. The Wheatley School will accept this recognition on behalf of those coaches, athletes, and spectators who have and continue to conduct themselves in the spirit of good sportsmanship and keep the purpose of athletics in its proper perspective.
