JCC Wins Big at the Maccabi Games
This summer marked the 25th anniversary of the JCC Maccabi Games, the Olympic-style event for Jewish teenagers ages 13-16. Originating in 1932 in Israel, the first North American Games were in 1982. Past participants included Mark Spitz in swimming and Brad Gilbert in tennis. The games encompass individual as well as team sports, and non-athletic activities such as a "Day of Caring and Sharing" and Hang Time. This year Sid Jacobson JCC sent 43 of their finest athletes to the Orange County, California-hosted Maccabi Games Aug. 12-17 to participate in boys and girls basketball, soccer, swimming and girls tennis.

Runners Needed for Oyster Bay Run
Runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes from Roslyn and surrounding communities are invited to come out on Saturday, October 13 and accept the challenge of the Oyster Bay Town Supervisor's Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run. The Run will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. on the morning of that date.
