The Board of Education of the East Williston School District has begun the process of selecting our next superintendent. An advertisement for the position of Superintendent of Schools has been published in newspapers, university periodicals, education industry periodicals and websites with an application deadline of December 22.
As a part of the process, the board of education is soliciting expressions of interest from residents in our school district community to serve on an interview committee. In order to bring the diverse viewpoints of our community into the process, the committee will be composed of both residents and parents. We feel that this can be accomplished by having parents representing each of our schools sitting beside residents from our community having no children in our schools. Interview committees will also include teachers, staff, administrators and students.
Committee members will be required to spend at least one full day interviewing a slate of candidates that have been pre-screened by the board of education. Final interviews and the actual selection will be by the board of education.
Each resident of the district will be receiving a letter from the board of education, which will include the required response form for those who may be interested. The responses will be due back to the district administrative office no later than January 12, 2007. The board will make the Community Resident/Parent Interview Committee selections by drawing lots. The drawing will take place during the Board of Education Work Session scheduled on February 5, 2007.
