I would like to make your readership aware that there will be a Blood Drive occurring on Sunday, Dec. 3 at Temple Beth Sholom on Roslyn Road in Roslyn Heights. This event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is incumbent upon those who qualify to volunteer, since there are so many people who, unfortunately, are unable to donate blood due to medical, lifestyle, travel and physical reasons. A blood donation offers the opportunity to save a life. This is also an opportunity to give of ourselves. Knowing that you are doing a noble act is a rewarding experience.
Individuals between the ages of 17 and 72 can donate. Sixteen-year-olds require parental consent, while those over 72 need a physician's approval. Appointments for phlebotomy are now being made for those who are interested in donating. Please send an email to TBSblooddonor@yahoo.com with our contact information. Walk-ins will be accepted but scheduled visits will enable the event to run more efficiently. A photo ID and Social Security Number will be required.
