The monthly meeting of the Flower Hill Board of Trustees laid the groundwork for important matters that will be presented at a public hearing on Dec. 4.
There will be discussions of several new proposed changes to the local village code. Local law #4, would prohibit the use of firework displays within the village boundaries; local law #5 would alter the standards for sites undergoing construction; local law #6 would require permits for temporary storage facilities of household items; and local law #7 would regulate the sanitary aspects of a construction site. The exact details of each proposed local law are available at the village hall. Interested parties should plan to attend the hearing for firsthand information and input.
The formal dedication of Walter Lane to the village will also take place at the December meeting.
Another presentation was made by NOTARO GRUPP & Associates regarding the proposed building of a new restaurant on Northern Blvd. at the current site of the old Saturn dealership. Several residents from Knollwood Road spoke about the possible impact of this new business on their lives. The concerns presented were about the refuse pick up hours, the lighting, the noise from the parking lot, landscaping, and drainage. Mayor Weiss and the trustees assured the residents that all of their concerns would be addressed by the Board of Zoning Appeals and the trustees before any site plan approval was issued. There will be further presentations if zoning variances are granted and the project is allowed to move forward.
