We are fortunate to have living among us the remarkable Rabbi Michael White of Roslyn's Temple Sinai - he has long been an inspiration to me and many others. Re his Oct. 19 letter to the editor to The Roslyn News: Its eloquent message should be heard throughout our community. Not unlike an inspirational message recently posted on the marquee of the Friendship Baptist Church on Roslyn Road - "Revenge imprisons us, Forgiveness sets us free" - Rabbi White advises us to move "beyond anger, to feelings of mercy" for Frank Tassone, the disgraced former superintendent of schools. Following Rabbi White's advice would go a long way toward helping to heal our damaged school system. But I would take his counsel one giant step further. It is time to have "feelings of mercy" for former members of the school board who were duped by Tassone. In my view, they are being mercilessly treated.
