Billy Finegan of Great Neck, won top prize in the WKF (World Karate Federation) University Games in August 2006 at Long Island University in Brooklyn. He bested competitors from 60 countries who must be members of their national teams and enrolled in college to qualify. The games, which are held every two years, took place in the USA for the very first time. Billy, who has been medaling internationally for the US Team since 1995, said, "It was thrilling to win in front of a local crowd. I loved having my family and students there to watch me fight. They got to see a different side of me."
The side of the fighter that most people see is shown on a daily basis at World Champion Tokey Hill Karate where Billy gives martial arts instruction in a new 3000-square foot, state-of-the-art, martial arts center with full-size boxing ring located at 55 Lumber Road, Roslyn. He is a natural teacher with real passion for working with kids. World Champion Tokey Hill Karate excels at providing a personal touch to help students of all abilities achieve confidence. World Champion Tokey Hill Karate welcomes the special challenge and rewards that come in working with these kids.
