On Friday, July 14, Buckley Country Day Camp hosted a Swim-A-Cross at their Roslyn location. Campers, from ages four to 13, participated in the benefit. The spirited swimmers trained well for the event and garnered sponsorship to raise money for the American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau).
Buckley counselors split the children up into age groups and utilized the camp's four swimming pools for the Swim-A-Cross laps. All proceeds benefit local ARC/Nassau services, including disaster relief and lifesaving programs in health and safety.
The 90 swimmers raced up and down the lanes and raised over $3,300 for ARC/Nassau. The Buckley Swim-A-Cross was one of the smaller fundraisers leading up to the main event on Aug. 11 at Center Island Beach where participants swim one mile across Oyster Bay Harbor for the 17th Annual Swim-A-Cross. Friendly's of Long Island, Jones Beach events and the New York Islanders all supported the Buckley Swim-A-Cross and were proud to cheer on the young philanthropists.
