Mother Nature must love the Nassau County Museum of Art, because she brought the best possible Summer morning weather to Roslyn Harbor on the morning of August 14 for the 3rd annual Ohrenstein & Brown Sprint for the Arts, and local runners responded with a bunch of smiling faces and fast times.
Among the top finishers were 34-year-old Thomas Heinz of Roslyn, who was the second finisher overall and first in the 30-34 age-group, who crossed the finish line in 17 minutes 16 seconds, 35-year-old Lara Gatz of East Hills, who was the 2nd place women in the 35-39 age group in a time of 25:56, 13-year-old Emily Lipari of Greenvale, whose time of 23:18 earned her first place in the women's 14 and under age group, and 46-year-old Theresa Lipari of Greenvale, who scored third among the women in the 45-49 age group in 27:41.
The Run was sponsored by the leading Long Island law firm of Ohrenstein & Brown, and managed by the Greater Long Island Running Club, with GLIRC's Bob Mittleman serving as the Run Director.
The Run was conducted entirely on the grounds of the Museum, with the entire net proceeds going toward upkeep and maintenance of the Museum. Post race refreshments included ice cream generously donated by Friendly's and an excellent raffle closed out a very pleasant morning indeed.
