Adam Schwartz, a senior at The Wheatley School, recently won the New York State Boys tennis Singles Championship. Adam, who has played varsity tennis since the eighth grade, completed an undefeated season while playing first singles for The Wheatley School varsity tennis team. He played an important role in the team's record of 12-0 during the regular season to capture its division championship. During the playoffs, Wheatley defeated Oceanside and Bellmore-Kennedy to win the conference title, and Adam kept his perfect record of not even losing a set in tact, by easily defeating his two opponents.

Adam represented Wheatley in the Nassau County Championships and easily advanced to the semifinal match in singles competition. In that match, which went to a deciding third set, Adam defeated longtime rival Sean Corrigan (Long Beach) to earn an appearance in the Nassau County Championship match. His opponent was Jason Morgenstern (Plainview JFK) and Adam defeated his top-seeded opponent 7-6, 6-5, when Morgenstern retired due to an injury.

With his Nassau County singles title, Adam participated in the New York State Boys Tennis Championships, which were conducted at the US Tennis Center in New York City. While competing at the top of his game, Adam swept through the competition without losing a set to earn a n appearance in the championship match. In a replay of the Nassau county title match, Adam's opponent was Jason Morgenstern, whom he easily defeated in two sets to win the New York State Singles title. In recognition of his remarkable accomplishment, Adam was recognized by the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation and received All-American honors. Adam was one of only 40 boys playing high school tennis to be awarded such recognition.

Adam, who is ranked #2 in the Eastern States Region of the United States Tennis Association, will play collegiate tennis next year at The University of Pennsylvania. He is the son of Beth and Jason Schwartz, who reside in Roslyn Heights.
