The 2006 Nassau County track and field season ended with four Roslyn High School girls receiving either All Division or All County designations.

Eighth grade phenom Emily Lipari was named All County in the 1500 and 3000-meter runs. Emily was the county champion in both events, and in the process broke the Roslyn High School records.

In addition, Emily was named All Division in the 800 meter run, and broke the Roslyn High School record in that event as well. Her times of 2.22.7 for the 800 meters, 4.52.6 for the 1500 meters, and 10.36.0 for the 3000 meters will be the new standard for Roslyn girls to shoot for. The best news is that Emily will be returning for four more seasons.

Anchoring the "Field" portion of the Roslyn team was junior Jillian Lew. Jillian surprised everyone when not only did she become division champion in her specialty, the discus with a throw of 95'1", but she took All County honors as the county champion in the shot put with a throw of 35'5" as well. Jillian was also All Division in the shot put and added a gold medal at the Port Washington Invitational in the shot put and a silver in the discus.

Sprinter Courtney Maitland was named All-Division in the 100-meter dash, and placed fourth in the county in the triple jump as well. Courtney, a sophomore, won a silver medal at the Nassau County Freshman Sophomore Meet in the 100 meters, and with a season's best time of 12.6 in the 100 meters, was just one tenth of a second shy of the Roslyn High School record of 12.5. Courtney showed her versatility, as she was Roslyn's top competitor in the 200 meters and the long jump.

Amy Levine started the year as a walk-on "non scorer" but quickly showed her value to the team by becoming their leading 400-meter runner. Amy achieved All Division honors in the 400 meters, and won gold at the Port Washington invitational, and silver at the Syosset "Spring Fling" Invitational.

She also medaled at the prestigious North Shore Invitational, which featured schools from Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn and Queens. Amy, only a freshman, placed Fifth at the Nassau County championships in the 400 meters, and with a season's best time of 63.2 stands only 0.5 seconds off a Roslyn High School record.

All four girls qualified for the section VIII state qualifier meet, where Emily gained status as an alternate for the state championships in the 3000-meters.

Roslyn ended up seventh at the Nassau county Championships, and with all four girls who gained All County and All Division honors returning, Coaches Trenchfield and Levy are looking forward to bringing a Nassau County team championship to Roslyn High in the 2007 season.
