Immigration, one of the most controversial domestic issues facing this country today, will be the topic for discussion at the next meeting of the Albertson-Roslyn Heights Republican Club on Wednesday, June 21 at 8:15 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the VFW Hall on Searingtown Road in Albertson.
The featured speaker will be Michael W. Cutler, a former INS employee and a person who has been involved with this issue for many years.
Cutler has testified as an "expert witness" at nine Congressional hearings on issues relating to the enforcement of immigration laws, having been called by members of both political parties. Cutler's background provides him with a unique perspective on the immigration issues currently facing our country.
Cutler, a graduate of Brooklyn College, began his career with the Immigration and Naturalization Service in 1971 as an immigration inspector assigned to John F. Kennedy International Airport. In August 1975, he became a Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) for the INS at NYC. In 1991, he was promoted to the position of Senior Special Agent and was assigned to the Organized Crime, Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).
Cutler retired from the INS in February 2002 after a career that spanned some 30 years. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs including the O'Reilly Radio Factor, O'Reilly's No Spin Zone, Fox News and The Lou Dobbs Tonight program on CNN to discuss the enforcement of immigration laws.
The evening promises to be a stimulating one as the subject matter is controversial and many diverse opinions exist. The subject is also extremely timely since Congress is debating this issue. If time permits, there will be a question answer-session after Cutler's presentation.
Henry Golis, president of the Albertson-Roslyn Heights Republican Club, stated, "This is a meeting that all members of the community should attend and all are welcome to attend."
