Wrenella M. Low, age 88, passed away on May 23, 2006 in Rochester. Wrenella was born in Bridgeport, TX on Feb. 23, 1918 to Effie and Delbert McAfee. She was married to Billy D. Low on Aug. 25, 1940. She and Billy moved to Long Island in 1948 and thereafter resided in Roslyn and Glen Cove.

Wrenella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a generous contributor to the community. She will be greatly missed. She was active in the Girl Scouts of NC (executive director '79 -'85), the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, the United Way of LI, the Soroptimist International of Central Nassau (president '81 - '83), and the American Association of Retired Persons (NYS director '89 - '92).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Effie and Delbert McAfee, her stepfather, Earl McDaniel, and her husband Billy D. Low.

She is survived by her daughter, Earle Marie Hanson and husband Dean Carstens of Los Alamos, NM; her son James R. Low of Rochester; two grandchildren, Jennifer Kempers and husband Scott of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Keith Hanson and wife Ece of Winnetka, CA; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, and Andrew Kempers.

Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. A service celebrating Wrenella's life will be held at the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, 140 East Broadway, Roslyn, NY at 10 a.m. on June 1. Private interment will follow at the Roslyn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County or your favorite charity.
