Winthrop-University Hospital will host its fifth annual Swim-a-Thon on Sunday, May 7, from 7 - 11:30 a.m. at Hofstra University's Swim Center. Since the event was created in 2002, more than $50,000 has been raised to benefit the Hospital's Pediatrics Fund for the Future.

"The Swim-a-Thon continues to attract swimmers of all ages and abilities and draws a tremendous amount of support from the community," said Ronald Marino, DO, MPH, associate chairman and director, General Pediatrics, Winthrop. "Every lap goes a long way in continuing the quality pediatric services that Winthrop provides to the thousands of sick children who visit the hospital each year."

Community members are invited to pledge laps either as a swimmer or a swimmer's sponsor. Participants will enjoy stroke instructions from Total Immersion Swimming, music from the Garden City High jazz ensemble and Central Beat, massages, raffles and gifts.

Swim-a-Thon registration is $20 for adults; $10 for children, ages 6 to 18. For more information or to register or volunteer, please call (516) 663-4403.
