    On Sunday, April 2, there was a Spin marathon to benefit the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA). The Alliance was formed by Katie Couric and others and is dedicated to the eradication of colorectal cancer by promoting the importance of early medical screening and funding research to develop better tests, treatments, and ultimately a cure.   • Sports: Winthrop's Annual Swim-a-Thon May 7

    Winthrop-University Hospital will host its fifth annual Swim-a-Thon on Sunday, May 7, from 7 - 11:30 a.m. at Hofstra University's Swim Center. Since the event was created in 2002, more than $50,000 has been raised to benefit the Hospital's Pediatrics Fund for the Future. FULL STORY
