Letter to the Editor

I am writing this letter to hopefully dispel any rumors regarding my position and intentions with reference to Roslyn Country Club.

Corona Realty Holding purchased Roslyn Country Club in November 2002. At that time, RCC was in bankruptcy. The previous operator left the property in a state of complete disrepair (especially plumbing and electrical), requiring extensive renovations. In addition, there was a three-year accumulation of outstanding debt.

It is and always has been my goal to bring RCC back to its original glory so that members can enjoy it as they have in the past. The property is beautiful, the potential is enormous and I believe there is a real value to residents and their homes. However, because of the expenses necessary to repair and maintain the property (real estate taxes, water, electric, landscaping, lifeguards, etc.), the annual membership fees needed to be increased for country club residents. Because the pool of nonresident members has decreased due to increased competition, we must rely on residents to help keep this wonderful property operable.

The main house has been elegantly renovated to its original state of grandeur and is being operated by Royalton Caterers. They are a top-notch organization and their participation with RCC is a benefit to the whole community. This year, the "food shack" is totally renovated and Royalton Caterers will supply hot and cold foods. In our efforts to continually rebuild and improve the club, we have repaved the parking lots, installed new walkways, a new drainage system, new lighting, purchased new lounge mattresses and gazebos to increase shady areas. We plan to improve the men's and women's rest and locker rooms for 2006. In 2005, a new playground was installed. We believe you will be happy with our improvements and ask that you support our efforts to beautify and improve the club for everybody's benefit.

Unlike the new East Hills Park that receives tax revenues, Roslyn Country Club must rely on membership fees alone to cover costs. Without the support of the community, we will be unable to continue to run the club as you know it and it will eventually close down. This would be a pity. I urge you to join RCC. Please don't hesitate to call me at 877-1677 with any questions or suggestions or to write to me at 48 East Old Country Road, Suite 203, Mineola, NY 11501.
