Intel Science Talent Search Semifinalists
Roslyn High School seniors - Alexander Babazadeh, Andrew Forrest, Michael Hofer and Paulene Meyers - were named semifinalists in the 65th Intel Science Talent Search. Three hundred semifinalists were selected from over 1,500 entrants nationwide in this prestigious competition. "We're delighted with these four students' success but also extremely proud of all nine of our students who entered," said Coordinator of Secondary Research Dr. Allyson J. Weseley. "There's no question that part of our ability to succeed on this level is due to the ongoing support of the board of education and central and building administrators."

Rabid Raccoons Continue to be Found
The New York State Department of Health has confirmed the first three cases of rabies found in raccoons this year in Nassau County. The animals were collected on January 1 in Port Washington, January 8 in Manhasset and January 9 in Plandome Manor.

Varsity Basketball Double-Header
The Roslyn High School girls' and boys' varsity basketball teams will play back-to-back home games in a special double-header on Friday, Jan. 27. The girls' game against Hewlett gets underway at 5 p.m. and the boys tip-off at 7 p.m. against North Shore. Both games will be videotaped by Cablevision for a television broadcast.

Jayhawks Run Off Three Straight Wins
The Jayhawks, a Roslyn fourth grade travel basketball team playing in the SuperLeague at Island Garden, have now increased their win streak to five games. Their record now stands at 6-2, which puts them among the very top of the elite 23 team division.
