With two children in the district, I am asking Superintendent David J. Helme to accept our "vote" to change policy regarding mandatory attendance during school vacations.

Like many in the area, school vacations are our only opportunity to reconnect with family and to refuel in a meaningful way.

We believe a vacation is necessary for the health of our children and that the athlete's performance is ultimately enhanced.

To disqualify an athlete during school vacations seems unreasonably harsh and serves no purpose.

I believe that most families in Roslyn agree and support a policy that allows for family gatherings during school vacations.
