The Roslyn Pines Pool & Tennis Club ushered in the 2004 season on Memorial Day weekend with the annual carnival. There were plenty of rides for the children to enjoy, and plenty of delicious cotton candy and popcorn for everyone to enjoy.
The tennis program is better than ever, with weekly Tennis Clinics for women (Saturdays at 12:30 p.m.) and men (Tuesdays at 6 p.m.), Rally Ball for the kids (Saturdays at 11 or 11:45 a.m.) and Men's Doubles (Sundays at 9:30 a.m.). The Women's Interclub Team is thrilled to be in first place. Private lessons are also available with a Senior Pro, ranked #32 in the world ITF Tennis rankings for men's 35s and a three-time National Open Mixed Doubles champion.
Some of the other activities that have been a fixture at the club will also return this summer, including the July 4 free BBQ Lunch, Water Fun Day (July 31), Magic Al (Aug. 8), and Relay Races (Sept. 5). A Free Family Luau with DJ is scheduled for Aug. 15. Other activities will also return, such as Arts & Crafts every Saturday afternoon, Men's Basketball every Tuesday and Thursday evening and the Member Bridge Luncheon (July 8).
Two innovative programs are also available for an additional fee. The Pool Board has arranged for on-site scuba instruction, which has already sparked major interest. A babysitting service is also available to parents who would like some free time to relax by the pool, three har-tru tennis courts, or the newly renovated snack bar (staffed by a well-known leading local caterer).
The Roslyn Pines Pool & Tennis Club is open through Labor Day, Sept. 6. Only a few summer memberships are available for 2004. For more information, contact the pool club at 621-9592.
