The LIL-Jammers reached the Semi-final round of the Long Island Lightning Division II Tournament held May 7 through May 9 at various venues located throughout Long Island. The Long Island Lightning is an independent organization, run out of Island Garden in West Hempstead that sponsors home grown teams in regional (and national) basketball tournaments. The team is coached by David Rothman and Jeff Gould (advance scout Victor Rousso assumes bench duties on conflict days).

Having already played in three of the four scheduled tournaments this spring, the Jammers have recorded a winning record and reached the semis in each event. This past weekend, the Jammers split a pair Friday night, May 7 at St. Dominic's in Oyster Bay. In the early game, they coasted past the Bulldogs 38-23 on the back of Andrew Wolfe's 12 points. Later that evening, they came out flat falling quickly behind the tough LIL- Rasco team. Paced by high scorer Ben Rothman (15), they picked up speed as the game progressed, but two late-game crushing turnovers sealed their fate and they were defeated 40-36.

On Saturday, May 8, the Jammers held their traditional PrGM (Pre-Game Meal) at Kitchen Kabaret and then returned to their home court at Island Garden. They outplayed LIL-Mori winning easily 42-19. Leading the charge were Wolfe (8), Michael Kobrick (7), Keith Gould (6) and Rothman (6).

In the quarterfinals held at St. Dominic's on Sunday, May 9, the Jammers bested the South Shore Warriors of Massapequa 42-38. The Jammers were up by 10 points or more most of the game before surrendering some meaningless last minute buckets as the clock was running out. Leading scorers were Michael Lefcort (9), Jonathan Peck (8), Wolfe (8) and Rothman (7).

With three hours between games, the Jammers held their BGM (Between Game Meal) at team hangout Mario's in Oyster Bay and then relaxed at the beach at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay as the coaches mapped out a game plan.

Finally, in the last game Sunday, the Jammers tried to deliver the ultimate Mother's Day gift but came up just short losing to the LIL-Mapp club 49-35. Wolfe became ill early in the contest, and the team was not able to makeup some of his lost production. Lucas Schulman was fierce under the boards as Rothman (8) and Lefcort (8) tried to lead the charge, but the Mapp club gave the Jammers all it could handle and more. As it was a holiday, the team voted to skip the PGM (Post-Game Meal).

The team consists of Ethan Back, Dustin Breitner, Jason Clark, Keith Gould, Michael Kobrick, Michael Lefcort, Jonathan Peck, Ben Rothman, Eli Rousso, Lucas Schulman, and Andrew Wolfe.

The Jammers wrap up their season in the LIL Invitational Tournament June 11-13.
