The Roslyn High School girls varsity basketball team continues to take Conference Four by storm. Last week, they won three in a row to extend their winning streak to six games. They also made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years.
On Saturday, Feb. 7, the Lady Bulldogs won a home contest over Levittown by a 46-39 margin. Tiarra Augustine led the way with 23 points and Erin Finestone followed with 12 points. Dana Finkelstein had nine rebounds and Lexie Klappers contributed with seven boards.
On Tuesday night, Feb. 10, the Lady Bulldogs easily defeated Plainedge, 55-41. The girls were led by Erin Finestone, who scored 10 of her 12 points in the second quarter, when Roslyn took a 29-16 lead while on its way to its fifth consecutive win. Tiarra Augustine had a superlative game, scoring 24 points, while hauling down seven rebounds and handing out seven assists. Dana Finkelstein added six points and 10 rebounds. Bari Claster added six points.
Also this past week, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Lynbrook, where they won 55-49, in the process gaining a postseason playoff seed. The team was led again by Tiarra Augustine with 16 points. Erin Finestone had nine points and Dani Arouty scored seven points. The victory gave the Lady Bulldogs a 6-4 conference record.
