Girls 4 (Commissioners: Neil Foster, Bruce Somerstein)
UCLA 7 - U. of Florida 6 - UCLA came from behind to win a very close game on Saturday against the University of Florida by the score of 7 to 6. Katie Loshak, Amanda Reiner and Jaqueline McWhir all scored to lead the offense. Danielle Ball, Jamie Chadroff and Lauren Appleman's tenacious defense forced turnovers and created opportunities for the offense. UCLA is ready for its next game.
Syracuse 10 - Michigan 8 - The Orange-girls of Roslyn put on a great show. Coach Ed's girls were a defensive juggernaut. Led by the unstoppable Julie Schorr with 7 of our 10 points, the Orange-girls pushed forward. Assists by everyone. Katie Talerman, Lexi Levy and Talia Foster bringing the ball up strong. Samantha Cohen, Georgia Berger, Dani Baxt and Talia again with a great defense held Coach Ed's girls away from the hole. It was a close game right up to the end, but the Orange-girls took home the victory. All of the girls had some laughs and had a lot of fun. Great teamwork and big smiles all around
North Carolina 16 - Notre Dame 12 -
In a game reminiscent of the old Lakers - Celtics rivalry, North Carolina was able to hold on to the slimmest of leads in beating Notre Dame, 16-12, in a very tough and hard fought battle. The girls from North Carolina fought hard from the onset realizing that there unbeaten streak could be in jeopardy because this Notre Dame team had definitely brought their 'A' game to the court. Offensively, scoring was pretty balanced with Megan Gaynor, Allison Kobrick, Gabi Myers, Maxy Hirsch and Jaimee Schuster all contributing in the paint.
Maryland 18 - Duke 8 - Maryland won 18-8 in a tough loss for Duke. The Maryland Girls fielded a spectacular six and came ready to play. This game really showed progress on both ends of the court. Joanna Finkelstein and Dani Nemetsky led the way with an infectious tenacious defense. Allison Furnari both hit the boards and sparked an offensive explosion. Kara Somerstein exhibited her fast break ability and showed us you can score from 15 feet out without looking!
Girls 5 (Commissioners: Richard Abeles, Stephen Sheinbaum)
Purdue 20 - Ohio State 14 - Ohio State Buckeyes suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Mighty Boiler Makers. Harli Kozak, Dani Feldman and Nicole Faerman provided the offensive punch for the Buckeyes, while the swarming defense of Carly Krieger, Rachel Smith and Alex Weingarten was not enough to stop the Boiler Makers potent offensive attack.
Penn State 28 - Indiana 12 - In a match-up that pitted speed vs. height, speed prevailed with Penn State putting on a powerful offensive display on the way to a convincing victory. Indiana made a great effort to contain the opposition but Penn State was not to be denied this day.
Minnesota 16 - Michigan 15 - In a well played, physical contest, Minnesota defeated Michigan in a game that went down to the wire, 16-15. The Golden Gophers had a balanced scoring attack, with key points provided by Paige Mintz, Nicolette Strobing, Liz Gabay and Brett Weinstein. Torie Resnick, Liz Gabay and Natalie Miller were outstanding on the boards, with key offensive rebounds. Missy Edelblum made some nice assists in a true team effort.

Mighty Ducks 18 - Duke 15 - The Ducks opened up the game with a 10-0 lead led by Perri Gould, Sammi Richman, and Perri Konecky. We were able to keep the lead with our tough defense led by Jordan Litt, Randi Olan, and Shadee Beni-isfahany. Allie Kolb was a blur on the court in making some great picks and enabling our offense to score.

There was great defense by Sara Cha, Lara Elowsky and Danielle Zayit and great inside rebounding by Lindsay Mandel, Ruby Yip and Jessica Margolis.
Binghamton 14 - U of Miami 10 - Binghamton started out sluggish, still recovering from a week of inactivity but Steffi Klapper got things rolling late in the first quarter by going base line to base line for the first scoring opportunity. Jenny Kim put the Bearcats in the lead and kept them there, leading the team in assists and sharing the team high scoring responsibilities with Jackie Schwartz. Jackie was dominating under the glass and was perfect from the free throw line, as was Alanna Brahms. Jackie and Alanna proved to all why they are the true knockout queens, by sinking all their foul shots, which in the end saved the day for the Cats.

Game #4 Comets 1 - Storm 0 - Unfortunately, this game was a forfeit for the Storm as their team was ravaged by the flu, but they'll be back stronger than ever after the break!
Boys 4 (Commissioners: Stu Golden, David Rothman)
Mavericks (Rothman) 22 - Suns (Lanzillotti) 20 - In overtime, the Mavs (2-2) defeated the Suns 22-20 in a sloppy, shoddy excuse for a basketball game at the redolent Harbor Hill Pavilion. The sellout crowd witnessed a contest where defense was an afterthought and offense was merely a stylized amorphous high concept. Leading the way for the Mavs was Matt Sherr with an acrobatic 7 points and Tyler Faden with 5. The "Bookend Bens" - Rothman and Bushell - each pushed 4 points through the twines.
Lakers (Golden) 30 - Warriors (Rousso) 18 - The Lakers head into break with another win to improve their record to 3 - 0. Every player scored today in a well-balanced attack. Jonathan Peck led in scoring with 8 points. Matthew Wilner played his best game with a season high 4 points. Ethan Back had 7 points with some spectacular transition baskets, and "Down Town" Casey Golden followed with 6 points.

Pacers (Shenfeld) 30 - Cavs ("Willie" Divack) 26 - The Pacers and Cavaliers played an exciting game this past Saturday, as the Pacers stayed unbeaten winning 30-26. The Pacers fought back from a 7point deficit and rallied in the last segment to pull it out. The game turned on the defensive pressure of Zach Rogers, EJ Perez and Ankit Bhasin. Michael Shenfeld and Max Miller battled Andrew Simon, Dustin Breitner and David Engelbert all day in the backcourt. Michael Kobrick, Skylar Carfi and Nathaniel Abrigagmian sparked a second half rally with a few clutch baskets. AJ Polinsky maintained a presence in the middle and crashed the boards. The tenacious defense of Matt Russell, Jake Barach & Jonathan Sherman helped secure the win.
Boys 5 (Commissioners: Dan Arnowitz, Brad Levine)
Wake Forest (Deicke) 23 - North Carolina (Kline) 23 (tie) -
The Demon Deacons took to the courts on Saturday and played in an overtime thriller that ended in a draw. The Deacons only had five players but they all should a ton of heart and character. Jesse "The Show" Korn continued to "wow" the crowd with excellent play. He played 8 segments in a row at point guard but continued to make plays throughout the game. Colin "Coz" Deicke had his best game as he was a stalwart on the defensive end and a true demon on the glass.

Boys 6 (Commissioners: Barry Carus, Jeff Reisner, Steven Kerpen, Roy Greif)
Patriots 26 - Lightning 12 - The game was low scoring and close through the first half. It was undetermined until the last 2 segments. Matthew Wolfson scored two key baskets in the 7th segment to make a 4-point cushion for the Patriots.
Altitude 38 - Sky Force 26 - The Asheville Altitude played their best overall game of the season. Brandon Berman was as tough as ever on the boards and led the team in scoring. Jacob Lewit distributed the ball well and drove the lane aggressively scoring when the team needed him to. Jared Bolnick played great defense against one of the strongest players in the league and ran the floor all game.
Rim Rockers 22 - Groove 21- For the Rim Rockers, Max Blum was hot with his outside shooting, Evan Meyers controlled the tempo and put in some baskets, Ben Kerpen and Josh Bogart both scored, Ethan Kassimir, Kevin Kopinski, and Jawad Mourabet got the rebounds. Jawad also scored some clutch free throws. The Rim Rockers were without their big man, Matthew Gubernikoff, and his rebounding was missed.
Huntsville Flight 46 - Idaho Stampede 14 - Two teams riddled by the flu bug battled it out with the Flight prevailing 46-14. The Flight was lead by the strong outside shooting and playmaking of Thomas Gloznek, who had a team-record 24 points and dished out a bucketful of assists. Following closely behind was Josh Mayourian who had a number of key steals in the first half and poured in a career-high 14 points in the second half.
Wildcats 20 - Storm 6 - Today's game started slowly but in the end the wildcats prevailed. It was a balanced victory with good defense and enough offense to win.
