I read recently about the family-owned restaurant in East Hills called L'Endroit whose French name sent a flurry of North Shore diners to their phones to cancel their reservations.

I would like readers to know that Mr. Avellino DeSousa, the owner who happens to be Portuguese is a very decent person who fought for and obtained a variance to build a handicapped-accessible bathroom and elevator to the second floor for the benefit of physically-challenged patrons.

His daughter, a teacher, coordinated programs between able-bodied and physically-challenged children.

These are good people who don't deserve the unthinking actions of supposedly intelligent people living in an upscale area who think they are being patriotic by boycotting a restaurant with a French name.
