The Roslyn boys varsity basketball team made the Nassau County playoffs again this basketball season. With Coach Jeff Risener at the helm, the team won its last three games defeating Plainedge, Lynbrook and Valley Stream South to finish the league season at 6-6 and get into the playoffs as a #11 seed out of 16 teams.

The team was led by senior Ronny Koenig who averaged 17 points per game and five rebounds. Koenig is being recruited by Clarke University and Union College, as well as Brandeis and Binghamton among others. In addition, senior Mike Mantel averaged eight points and Derek Kaye averaged four points and seven rebounds. Koenig, Mantel, Kaye and senior Alex Meyers were the co-captains. Mantel will attend Indiana University, Kaye will attend Cornell and Meyers will attend Washington University.

The remaining members of the team are guard Evan Diamond, forward Jordan Augustine, center Willie Dillard, forward Jake Kimmelman and guard Surrel Murray. Coach Risener is very proud of this team and the accomplishments they made. Their backs were against the wall and the team worked hard to get into the playoffs. The Roslyn community should be proud of them.
